Crater Lake
Prepare for some challenging riding and mind-blowing mountain scenery as we’ll go up, over, down, and around the heart of the Cascade Range in Oregon. Pack lightly as we’ll stay indoors at a slate of hotels and mountain lodges, where we’ll take advantage of civilized dining and great swimming in several high-mountain lakes.
After a short shuttle from Redmond, to Sisters, OR, we’ll ride Adventure Cycling’s TransAmerica Bicycle Trail to ride up McKenzie Pass. We’ll soon connect with Adventure Cycling’s Sierra Cascades Bicycle Route, taking us to trendy, recreation-based towns such as Sisters and Bend. Then it’s back up to the high Cascades where our adventure culminates in the climb to Crater Lake followed by an unforgettable downhill toward the shores of Diamond Lake. From there it’s a short shuttle back to Redmond.

“I immensely enjoyed this tour! I have completed several other tours but this is the most enjoyable ride I’ve encountered — smaller group, more relaxed, most beautiful scenery by far.”

Information for eBike riders
Because every rider, eBike, road condition, and elevation profile is different, it is ultimately up to the participant to judge best whether their battery will last through each tour day. We recommend using pedal assist in its lowest setting or off when not needed to maximize battery range. Bringing a second battery is also recommended. Remember, there is no vehicle support on our inn-to-inn trips, and you would need to carry the extra battery along with all of your other things.
Inn to Inn Reminder
Our Inn to Inn tours have the vehicle-free simplicity of our self-contained trips with the added perk of staying in hotels and having dinners at restaurants. There’s no need to haul a tent and sleeping bag when you’ll have a bed and a roof each night! Just make sure your bike can carry all your other belongings, and we’ll enjoy the perfect blend of self-sufficiency and comfort!
Our Philosophy & What You Can Expect From Our Leaders
Adventure Cycling tours are not like other bike tours. We pride ourselves on being travelers not tourists. At our heart, we are a nonprofit committed to empowering and connecting people through the power of bicycle travel.
We believe that everyone joining our tours, including the leaders, are active participants who take joint ownership of group tasks like cooking, shopping, and maintaining group gear. This team mindset helps forge bonds that last for years (and tours) to come. Participants come for our routes but stay for our community.
We call the folks facilitating our tours leaders, not guides. Our leaders are not here to do everything for you; they are here to keep everyone on track and empower members of the group to step into ownership after they’ve adjusted to life on the road.
Our leaders commit to:
- Establishing a vision and setting expectations for how our tours run within our unique philosophy.
- Creating a safe, welcoming space for all walks of life
- Keeping your tour on track while remaining flexible, so group members can shape their own experience
- Pedaling alongside you — embracing the spirit and resilience of life on the bike
Your tour fees go directly towards covering the costs of your tour and supporting other programs our nonprofit puts forth into the world. The plus side to supporting us by coming on tour? You get to challenge yourself, have fun, and also do some good each and every time you ride with Adventure Cycling.
