This first week you will begin on the hallowed grounds of Missoula, MT also known as the homebase of Adventure Cycling itself. You will wind your way North past the Mission Mountains, through the Seeley Swans, and along the Whitefish Range up to the Canadian border. You will have the chance to visit the world’s largest Western Larch Tree, start the rolling list of lakes & rivers that you will swim in over the course of this journey, cross paths with folks along the northern edge of the Tour Divide Race, and revel in the amenities Whitefish, MT has to offer.

Starting near the shores of Lake Koocanusa (Canada and the USA had a hard time deciding how to name it and it shows), you will cross the border into Beautiful British Columbia, Canada. You will have the chance to refresh tired legs at the famed Fairmont Hotsprings before delving into the the first of many Canadian Provinicial Parks en route to Banff National Park (home to the renouned Banff Mountain Film Festival).For those who are food motivated, this week marks the beginning of your love-affair with Canadian Poutine & Fries. Keep tabs on who has the best- we want to know!

This week you will depart Banff National Park on the Icefields Parkway that leads you to Jasper, CAN. You will witness the aftermath of what it’s like to live on the Wild Urban Interface as Jasper continues its efforts to rebuild the portion of town that burned in the 2024 “Feux de forêt de Jasper” (Jasper Wildfire). Your route will take you through “The Northern Capital” of British Columbia before rounding out the week in sleepy Vanderhoof.

During week 4, your services will grow sparser as the mountains continue to grow larger. Relish passing through the little towns scattered along your route this week as you continue to head northwards to Smithers, BC (know for its worldclass skiing, mountainbiking, and fishing).

The passing of time this week will be marked in lakes rather than towns as you hit the hinterlands between services and plan out food carries.

This week you will pass into the remote but ruggedly beautiful Yukon Territory famed for open expanses and goldrushes.

This week you will skirt Tombstone National Park & visit Dawson City, homebase to the Discovery Channel show “Goldrush” as well as the Sourtoe Cocktail Club (look it up, you won’t regret it). After traveling through a remote but jaw-dropping province, even the quirkiness of Dawson City will feel like a luxury.

Did you know that Top of the World in the Yukon Territory houses the northermost border crossing for both the US and Canada? Or that, way up in the farflung reaches of that landcape there exists a town called Chicken, AK? This week you will pull those passports back out from the bottoms of your panniers and cross back into the United States to wind into the bustling metropolis (relative to what you’ve seen in recent days) of Fairbanks, AK.

This last week of the tour you will feel like horses to the barn having your cake, errrr carrots?, and eating it to. From Fairbanks you will pedal South with stops near the unforgettable Denali National Park and onwards to Anchorage, AK. Perhaps you’ll dip your tires in the waters of the Cook Inlet to mark your arrival. Perhaps you’ll just pedal straight to Moose’s Tooth Pizza and a shower. However you & your newfound family choose to celebrate this monumental achievement, you won’t regret it.
